Title: Have Fun For Less in Swanky South Beach
Category: Beach Author: tracy

Where to Eat...

Breakfast

South Beach is full of expensive places to eat breakfast, but the locals know those are just for tourists and special occasions. For a great breakfast that won't cost a perfectly tanned arm and leg, try the 11th Street Diner, located on the corner of 11th Street and Washington Avenue. This diner is actually an Art Deco dining car from the 40's that they moved down here from Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania in 1992 to open the restaurant. They offer typical diner breakfast fare with an exceptionally large selection of healthy choices thanks to all the actors and models living on the beach.

Lunch

For lunch, you must try La Sandwicherie, another favorite of South Beach locals. Pull up a stool at the outdoor bar (there is no indoor seating) and be prepared for the best sandwich you've ever eaten in your life. If you've ever eaten a sanwich in France, the sandwich capital of the world, you'll know exactly what to expect here. What will surprise you are the un-South Beach prices. La Sandwicherie is located at 229 14th Street.

Dinner

Like Mexican? Go get some tacos at San Loco! San Loco has great tacos and burritos that are about as authentic as you're gonna get in South Beach. They're also open till 5 am so if you have a late night at the South Beach clubs, this is the perfect place to stop and nosh to try to ward off the bed spinnies.

What to Do...

Morning

Go to the beach for the sunrise!!! It's free! South Beach has one of the most gorgeous beaches in the world, and the sunrise is really breathtaking almost every day of the week. Once in a while you may even see a dolphin.

Afternoon

I know you were just there for sunrise, but you're gonna want to come back to do some swimming and soaking up of the sun. South Beach is not really a family-friendly beach. Will you see families there? Yes. Will you also see a bunch of girls topless? Yes. Does anybody really seem bothered by it? No. Go and enjoy.

Evening

A great thing to do at night is to just stroll along the sidewalk across the street from all the hotels on Ocean Drive. There is always a scene and the neon lights from the Art Deco hotels light it all up like a living postcard. You see everything from tourists from all over the world to celebrities to locals and of course local celebrities.

Late Night

Stop in for a drink at Mac's Club Deuce on 14th Street. It's one of the few bars in South Beach that doesn't charge a cover or require you to be genetically blessed to get in the door. The drink prices are reasonable and you can chat comfortably with everyone from models to drag queens and tourists from other parts of the world.
